How in the world, in such a short period of time, did our congress manage to come up with, not one, but TWO versions of a Healthcare Reform Bill that in total length would rival some of the longest novels on any bookshelf in any library in the country?  Were they already written, waiting in the wings to make their timely appearance?  The best writers on the planet couldn't have written that many pages in such a short time span.

Now we're faced with listening to a repeat of Obama Scare Tactics.  The strategy is the same, only the words have changed.  We are supposed to believe if congress doesn't pass a healthcare reform bill right NOW, we are doomed.  Obama and staff wish us to believe none of us will survive the healthcare system as it stands today.  They would have us believe that only our federal government can save us now from certain demise.

A few short months ago, we heard, "if we don't pass this stimulus bill, unemployment will skyrocket, businesses will close, the economy will face certain disaster...", and so on, and so on.  In a rush to "save the country" from certain devastation, congress saddled us with a debt we will never see repaid in our lifetime.  Well guess what...  Since that time unemployment has gone beyond even what the fear mongers predicted, GM went bankrupt in the fastest court proceedings in the history of bankruptcy, banks still won't loan out the money to businesses in need, and the home foreclosure rate hasn't slowed as we were told it would.  Gee..... that worked well....

It is not our current health care system that we should be afraid of.  We should be afraid of a congress that has exempted themselves from participating in the plan they would dictate to us, the taxpayers and citizens.  We should be afraid of a bill that contains the words "mandatory End of Life Counseling".  We should be afraid of a bill that will tax us 2.5% of our earnings for non-participation.  We should be afraid of a bill that, like the last ones, are too big and too cumbersome to be read before being voted on.  We should be afraid of a government run health care system that will restrict enrollment for special needs individuals.  We should be afraid of a government that will instruct us on our living wills.  We should be afraid of a government that will dictate treatment as a patient's health deteriorates.  We should be afraid that the future of our health care reform hinges on some congressional staffer whose job is to glance over the highlights of a 1000+ page bill and report back to his boss what's important.  The list of things we should be afraid of is endless.  Increasing costs for our current health care system will seem like a walk in the park compared to the intrusion and control our federal government will laden on us if these current versions of Healthcare Reform are passed.

More than the scariest parts of a health care bill that no legislators are reading, is a government gone crazy and out of control.  It appears as though we can't stop their insanity.  The biggest question in my mind right now ... will the damage done be reversible 4 years from now?
